US Infantry in the uniform worn by most units at Crysler's Farm. Although the 1813 regulations specified a plain blue coatee with lace only at the collar, few units received this coat until 1814. The leather "tombstone" shako, however, very quickly took hold, so many units found themselves with tombstone shakos and the old full-laced coatees during the middle part of the War. Furthermore, blue cloth was in short supply, so the laced coatees were distributed in various colors of drab, brown, and even black! Red facings were common.
